6 Tips to Help Choose Your Wedding Dress

Recently, I had a close friends text me because she couldn't decide on a wedding dress. I asked if she wanted me to take a look at her options and after receiving pictures of well over 20 dresses...I had to tell her that I didn't think she had found the one yet. With that in mind, here are 6 tips to help when you are choosing that picture perfect dress....

#1 | Think about h0w you want to feel on your wedding day

By asking what you want to feel like most on your day, you can help eliminate a whole host of dresses. If above everything, you want to feel sexy, a tulle ballgown may not be the way to go. For the bride who wants feel like the center of attention, a simple dress may not be the right fit.

#2 | Ask yourself, what one word describes my wedding best?

Vintage, shabby chic, glitzy, classic....Your dress can set the tone for your wedding. If your Pinterest board is covered in burlap, consider a classic lace dress.

#3 | Look to the future

It is sometimes easy to see yourself walking down the aisle in a dress, but can you see yourself sharing your wedding album with your children one day and still loving your gown? Sometimes you really want to rock a trend on your wedding day, which is awesome! Just make sure it is something you can stand behind 20 years from now!

#4 | No Phone Photos!

You look in the mirror at the salon in tears seeing yourself as the bride you always dreamed of. As you snap photos, you are euphoric. But when you get home, that iPhone just doesn't do it justice! Staring at a poor quality photo by an amateaur photographer can cause you to second guess a decision you were completely sure of when you made it. Trust the moment when you say yes to the dress.

#5 | Just Walk Away

We all want the "This is it!" moment, but sometimes it doesn't happen right away. If you are waffling on dresses, walk away. Get dinner, take a day, give it a week. If you are still thinking about the dress and dreaming of the details, it was meant to be.

#6 | Ditch the Opinions

Our loved ones are awesome. We turn to them for everything. But this decision, like choosing the man you are marrying, is one you should make on your own. Not only do their opinions clash with one anothers, but often with your vision. Trust your gut and go with what makes you happy.
